As Office 97 is not a qualifying product you will have to purchase the full version of Office Standard 2007.
Note: Any Trial Suite is not a qualifying product for office upgrade installations.

As you still want to keep some application from the Office 97 suite do not uninstall the earlier version during installing Office 2007.
Microsoft Office 97 Updates
The Normal.dot and Outlook personal folders will get automatically updated with the new version of office on the machine. Uninstall the Microsoft office 2003 Trial which is on the computer before installing Office 2007.
